Holiday shopping doesn't have to mean long lines at department stores packed with mass-produced gift sets. This season, two very special popup holiday markets are coming to Union and Bond: the Brooklyn Makers Holiday Bazaar at 501 Union and the Phoenicia Flea at Sky Gallery.
The Friday after Thanksgiving should be spent recouping from your uncle's green bean casserole so stay tucked in bed in your stretchiest pants, shut the blinds, and avoid the madness. Then when the inevitable holiday gift list forces you to put real pants on, make your way down to Gowanus to support local small businesses at the 3rd annual Brooklyn Holiday Bazaar. A collection of 40+ craftsmen and artisans from all over Brooklyn will converge under one roof for this weekend-long shopping event.
Then the following week, the Phoenicia Flea makes its way to Brooklyn bringing along makers from the Catskills and Hudson Valley region. This nomadic market travels all over New York so be sure to catch them at Sky Gallery while you can. Goodies include handcrafted housewares, apparel, apothecary, vintage finds, and more.
Knock out your entire list by the first week of December? Reward yourself with extra quality time with your stretchy pants.
