ABOUT WILLIAM SURAN + DEMON SERIES
William Suran (b. Chicago, 1974) attended the Kansas City Art Institute at age 18 where he studied painting, drawing and printmaking. After graduating, he returned to Chicago and later moved to Brooklyn in 2003 where he currently lives and works.
With a strong interest in the history of art, of life, and of the universe, William now paints pictures that are timeless. Of frozen moments of ephemera on their way towards decay and dissolution, and with his current series of peony flowers, dubbed 'Demons,' William paints portraits of flowers that intone a sense of the beauty, as well as the dreadful aspects one may notice in the process of aging. William’s paintings, prints, and drawings are in collections in the United States and abroad, including Australia and England.
